[00:00.00]The 1975 - The 1975
[00:26.56]We are right now in the beginning of
[00:28.64]A climate and ecological crisis
[00:32.83]And we need to call it what it is an emergency
[00:40.29]We must acknowledge that we do not
[00:42.05]Have the situation under control
[00:44.54]And that we don't have all the solutions yet
[00:48.42]Unless those solutions mean that
[00:50.53]We simply stop doing certain things
[00:54.12]We must admit that we are losing this battle
[00:59.11]We have to acknowledge that the older generations have failed
[01:05.64]All political movements in their present form have failed
[01:11.40]But Homo sapiens have not yet failed
[01:20.90]Yes we are failing
[01:23.03]But there is still time to turn everything around
[01:27.36]We can still fix this
[01:30.53]We still have everything in our own hands
[01:34.77]But unless we recognise the overall failures
[01:37.95]Of our current systems
[01:39.91]We most probably don't stand a chance
[01:48.46]We are facing a disaster of unspoken sufferings
[01:52.76]For enormous amounts of people
[01:55.60]And now is not the time for speaking politely
[01:59.07]Or focusing on what we can or cannot say
[02:03.76]Now is the time to speak clearly
[02:08.98]Solving the climate crisis is the greatest
[02:11.79]And most complex challenge
[02:14.23]That Homo sapiens have ever faced
[02:18.19]The main solution however
[02:20.79]Is so simple that even a small child can understand it
[02:26.38]We have to stop our emissions of greenhouse gases
[02:30.77]And either we do that or we don't
[02:36.13]You say that nothing in life is black or white
[02:39.87]But that is a lie a very dangerous lie
[02:44.97]Either we prevent a 1 5 degree of warming
[02:48.47]Or we don't either we avoid setting off
[02:52.65]That irreversible chain reaction beyond human control
[02:56.45]Or we don't either we choose to go on as a civilisation
[03:02.72]Or we don't that is as black or white as it gets
[03:09.63]Because there are no grey areas when it comes to survival
[03:19.54]Now we all have a choice
[03:22.01]We can create transformational action
[03:24.68]That will safeguard the living conditions
[03:27.32]For future generations
[03:29.87]Or we can continue with our business as usual and fail
[03:35.28]That is up to you and me
[03:38.85]And yes we need a system change rather than individual change
[03:44.29]But you cannot have one without the other
[03:48.01]If you look through history
[03:49.99]All the big changes in society have been started
[03:53.60]By people at the grassroots level people like you and me
[04:00.09]So I ask you to please wake up
[04:02.86]And make the changes required possible
[04:08.23]To do your best is no longer good enough
[04:12.08]We must all do the seemingly impossible
[04:17.19]Today we use about
[04:19.75]100 million barrels of oil every single day
[04:25.51]There are no politics to change that
[04:29.23]There are no rules to keep that oil in the ground
[04:33.48]So we can no longer save the world by playing by the rules
[04:38.09]Because the rules have to be changed
[04:41.19]Everything needs to change and it has to start today
[04:47.21]So everyone out there
[04:49.46]It is now time for civil disobedience
[04:53.36]It is time to rebel
